As a parent of a “twice exceptional” student, educator and mentor, I have been so impressed with Kennon’s special gift of connecting with young people, patiently helping them to grasp complex mathematical topics while also overcoming their own inner barriers and lack of self confidence. We need more future engineers and problem solvers in the world. Kennon not only teaches students how to improve their arithmetic, but also to shift they way they think about themselves and the world. Challenges truly become opportunities for future learning when students are given the tools and methods to develop their math skills to their best potential. My daughter started out excelling in and loving math, then she learned to hate and fear it because of negative teaching environment experiences. Kennon helped her get back on track. With his help she began to bridge essential areas of deficiency. She is now at a major university in the Northeast realizing her dream of pursuing architecture and design engineering. We appreciate Kennon’s help in improving her math skills and concepts, it restored her confidence and hope. He truly made all the difference.

Before moving to Sarasota, Kennon taught high school math for five years in North St. Paul, MN. During that time, Kennon taught or tutored all levels of high school math, from Pre-Algebra to Calculus, and he is eager to help your student succeed as well. He’s been tutoring full-time since 2018, after moonlighting as a tutor since 2014. So, he’s been doing high school math for a long time. You’d think he would have graduated by now!
Kennon enjoys Algebra so much that he created a successful series of iPhone/iPad apps called Algebra Explained, which consistently received 5-star reviews and had over 10,000 paid downloads due to the videos lighthearted approach to teaching Algebra. Spend some time with someone who loves math, and perhaps you will grow to love it, too!
Calculus can be a very difficult subject for even the best mathematicians. Read our Calculus blog for some great tips and schedule a tutoring session if you need help. Depending on the student, we recommend one one-hour, and one 30 minute session per week for Calculus.
