SAT, ACT & PSAT Math Test Prep
Test Prep Package This is a package, and requires a 4 hour minimum, which must be prepaid in full upon reserving your first appointment. I used to require 8 hours, but I’ve found that with access to a calculator on the entire SAT and ACT, some students can make dramatic improvements in just 4 hours. The package includes my review guides, and other materials that vary based on the needs of the student, and as such is non-refundable for the $500, four hour commitment.
- $500 for the first set of 4 hours. Prepaid and non-refundable.
- $450 for the second set of 4 hours. Prepaid, refunds promptly issued for any unused hours.
- $400 for additional sets of 4 hours. Prepaid, refunds promptly issued for any unused hours.
Math Tutoring (Non-Test Prep)
- $100/hour
- 2.5 prepaid hours = $250
- 5 prepaid hours = $490 ($10 discount)
- 10 prepaid hours = $975 ($25 discount)
- Prepayment for 5 weeks is required for all students with regular weekly appointments.
If you need a less expensive alternative, I would recommend my son Carter. He’s not a licensed math teacher, but he’s a National Merit Scholar, with perfect SAT and ACT scores, who is studying math in college, and he’s done some amazing things. His families have been happy with his tutoring since 2020. Carter manages his own scheduling, payments, and so forth. Just reserve a session with him to get started.
Kennon is an exemplary tutor across the board who helped our teenage son meet and exceed his potential. Our son had taken the SAT test twice before and was not able to reach his goals—he was frustrated and uninspired. What impressed us most is Kennon’s ability to fully engage our son in the process and earn his trust. He was then able to quickly assess his skill level as well as to identify specific road blocks. This served to strengthen his motivation as he began to work hard and dedicated a little time each day to practice problems. Even with a busy after school schedule, the tutoring sessions and practice times were very doable and highly productive. This past weekend our son proudly shared his test scores which were significantly higher than before. How Many Hours of Test Prep are Needed?
Every student is different, some learn quickly, some do not, some do the work we recommend, some do not, some already have a good score, some do not, some have had straight A’s and have taken advanced math, and some have not. Because of this, it is hard to know how many hours of tutoring a student will need to improve their score or grades. Regardless of the situation, we believe that in nearly all cases, a minimum of four hours (I used to say “eight hours” but the Desmos graphing calculator has made the test easier) of test prep will be needed to make a significant difference for most students. The tests (especially the SAT) are too different from their daily work, and are designed to expose all of a students’ weaknesses, so it takes time to make the sort of change that is generally required to improve an SAT, ACT or PSAT score. To make an impact, and significantly change someone’s skill level it takes frequent, skilled tutoring & training as well as a commitment by the student to do daily extra practice over a period of at least five weeks. Unlike national mega corporations, my time is limited, and my schedule is quite full, so I only recommend tutoring when it is needed, and try to be extremely efficient, and provide materials for students so they can study independently. My goal is to help students quickly, not log as many billable hours as possible.

What Test Prep Materials are Included?
We have created specialized strategies for helping students improve, as well as sets of carefully specialized, targeted practice exercises for our students. To help our students work independently (and require fewer hours of in person tutoring), and improve as much as possible, many of these exercises come with answers and explanations provided with each problem. We also have comprehensive final review packets that will help give your student that final boost that will hopefully help them meet their goals. Our customized formula and concept review packet is also provided to each student.
